Emma Hughes

Emma Hughes was born 1978 in Manchester England. She studied at the Surrey Institute of Art and lived in Tokyo for two years. She is inspired by old japanese patterns and transformes those arrangements to "western" patterns, using bread and cake illustrations instead of japanese items! Short films can be seen as the entries for the glory era of "Movies" in the 20th century. The greatest Asian and international "Shortfilmfestival" has its origin in Japan and over the past 9 years about 700 various fims have been shown and introduced to the delighted public. However, these films could only be seen a few times every year.
Now in 2008 the permanent shortfilm cinema " Brillia Shortshorts" has opened its doors in Yokohama!
On the cine projectors masterpieces from the previous festivals will be shown, further international films of all genres, specials of movie industry directors and of course works of young japanese newcomers. Even before World War II, fin-de-siecle art magazines such as PAN and Jugend as well as the graphic design work of Bauhaus were already well-known in Japan. In spite of their wide recognition, however, no exhibitions have been held to connect the two eras and present the development of German graphics at the time - or, particularly, to introduce the entire scope of modern poster design.
In the extraordinary exhibition at The National Museum of Modern Art Kyoto, approximately 180 items including works and other materials that represent the reception and development of German posters in contemporaneous Japan - such as the "Calpis" International Poster Design Competition, the activities of SUGIURA Hisui and the "Nananin-sha" and the "Exhibition of World War Posters" - will be on display, thus presenting the opportunity to inspect the appeal and advanced nature of German posters circa 1890-1933 from various perspectives.

1960s, Tadanori YOKOO has exerted a continual influence on contemporary Japanese culture. The vivid worlds depicted by YOKOO and his unique aesthetic sense have captured the hearts of many, providing the artist with wide-ranging acclaim and unparallel status as an artist.
The first show, "Selected Works," will exhibit YOKOO's paintings dating up to about 2005, with an emphasis on his most famous works from the 1980s. This retrospective will trace the history of his paintings, providing an overview of YOKOO's wide variety of expression.
In contrast, the second show, "New Paintings," will consist exclusively of new works by the artist, thereby allowing visitors to experience recent developments in YOKOO's continually evolving art in real time.

Dushan Milic

Dushan Milic is a Canadian designer and illustrator, born 1978 in Ontario. He graduated from the Sheridan College in Illustration and Graphic Arts and works now nationally and internationally for various main newspapers and mags like The New York Times or The Wall Street Journal. His work has also been recognized by American Illustration and the Society of Illustrator. Together with his wife Zela Lobb he started the company No Such Animal
for illustration, pattern and clothing design. He is part of the collective Repless Abandon.

The two brothers Takefumi and Tomoharu Tsujimura founded their band called KICELL in 1999.
Kicell performs a very fascinating and unique remix by using pre-recorded MTR, samplers, the rythm box as well as various live instruments. They combine their loose folksy vibe and floating-on-the-sea ambiance with rock music that takes you to another dimension of sound and mind.
KICELL has released four albums and topped the 20,000 unit sales mark on each of them!
They performed as the "best act" at Asagiri Jam, the best of Album "Haru no Senaka" was a bestseller!
