Modern German Posters 1890-1933
Even before World War II, fin-de-siecle art magazines such as PAN and Jugend as well as the graphic design work of Bauhaus were already well-known in Japan. In spite of their wide recognition, however, no exhibitions have been held to connect the two eras and present the development of German graphics at the time - or, particularly, to introduce the entire scope of modern poster design. In the extraordinary exhibition at The National Museum of Modern Art Kyoto, approximately 180 items including works and other materials that represent the reception and development of German posters in contemporaneous Japan - such as the "Calpis" International Poster Design Competition, the activities of SUGIURA Hisui and the "Nananin-sha" and the "Exhibition of World War Posters" - will be on display, thus presenting the opportunity to inspect the appeal and advanced nature of German posters circa 1890-1933 from various perspectives.
Exhibition from Feb 26th until March 30th 2008 Opening hours: 9:30 until 17:00 (Tickets are available until 30 min. before closing) Closed: every Monday Location: The National Museum of Modern Art Kyoto

4 Months, 2 Weeks and 2 Days “4 LUNI, 3 SAPTAMINI SI 2 ZILE”
Romania in 1987, the last days of President Ceausescu's dictatorship, the black market flourishes. A woman assists her friend to arrange an illegal abbortion. In 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, director Cristian Mungiu describes a day, uber-extremly tensed as on a heroin turkey. Based on deep and careful research on the time and historical background, the impassioned performance of all actors, pure and straight camer work created this masterpiece. What did it mean to live in a society where individual freedom was abandoned? This movie gives the answer. Shocking and dramatic, in every of the 113 Minutes, until the last scene.
4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days The Japan Roadshow starts from March 1st (Sat.) in the Ginza Theater Cinema (C) Mobra films 2007 official site Japan: http://www.432film.jp official site: http://www.432-lefilm.com/
