Onra Profile
French producer Onra (Aranud Bernard) first appeared on the 2006 collab-album “Tribute” alongside fellow producer and friend Quetzal. This Hip-Hop tribute to Soul music grabbed the attention of music heavy weights Giles Peterson and Benji B and was covered on Okayplayer.com.
The following year Onra teamed up with American keyboard player Byron The Aquarius to drop an album under the name “The Big Playback” on Japanese label Circulations. Mixing elements of Hip Hop, Nu-Soul and Broken Beat, they also featured on the genre- defining compilations Beat Dimensions and New Worlds. The same year he dropped his first solo endeavour, Chinoiseries, an ambitious adventure into sampling which was constructed entirely by using samples from dusty vinyl dug up on a trip to his grand-parents home country, Vietnam. The stand-out track “The Anthem” has been included on various compilations, covered for TV ads, and had heads nodding around the world.
After being selected to participate in the 2008 Red Bull Music Academy in London, Onra went on to release "1.0.8", a project made out of Bollywood samples, which got the Internet buzzing and was elected as album of the week by many shops across Europe. Onra is currently touring the world with his two Akai MPC 1000 samplers and steadily racking up stamps on his passport.

Long Distance
Long since established as one of the beat scene's go to guys, Onra flips the style here to bring a distinctively French twist on what is a personal homage to the R n B and Soul sounds of the 80’s. 21 tracks in all − a mix of instrumentals and vocals − this LP is hard to pigeonhole; not straight up beat-based Hip Hop nor needlessly wonky.
Finely crafted songs with high production values, the LP features vocal contributions from T3 of Slum Village on “The One”, Olivier DaySoul fresh from Hudson Mohawke’s Butter LP is on two tracks- the title track “Long Distance”, also released on 12”, and “My Mind is Gone” - plus Reggie B guests on “High Hopes”. French soul-jazz keys player Buddy Sativa (Favorite Records) & Walter Mecca also make appearances. Long Distance is out on All City Records on June 1st
