The Hakone Open-Air Museum and graniph have come together once again to release a series of collaboration t-shirts.

This year we’ve teamed up with a selection of artists who are involved with the Hakone Open-Air museum to produce a unique selection of graphic t-shirts based on the theme of ‘co-existence of art and nature’. Available from the Gallery Shop at the Hakone Open-Air Museum and all graniph stores while stocks last.

Yayoi Kusama(Painter/Avant-garde Artist/Novelist)

Yayoi Kusuma's paintings, collages, soft sculptures, performance art and environmental installations all share an obsession with repetition, pattern, and accumulation.

NAPOLI YOSHINO (Illustrator)

Creator of illustrations that fuse mild color and wild linear forms. Under the motto of "Brightly, Cheerfully, Happily" Yoshino runs 'caricature tours' and 'ishi-san tours' (Mr. Rock - drawing faces on rocks). He also participates in live poetry readings and other creative and interactive events.

Motoi Yamamoto (Contemporary Artist)

Motoi Yamamoto uses the purifying material of salt to create large scale site-specific works. His representative work 'Labyrinth' is a maze hand-drawn on the ground by the artist, and depending on the floor area can take from several days to several weeks to complete. At the completion of the exhibition gallery visitors return the salt to the ocean with their own hands. Motoi Yamamoto has exhibited widely throughout Japan, America and Europe.

Hiroko   Ichihara (Contemporary Artist)

Visual type artist creates thought provoking works using familiar and humorous words. She participated in the Minami Ashiya-hama Community & Art Project and the artist-in-residence program, Rotterdam in 1998, the "Akihabara TV" and the International Art Festival in Tachikawa '99 in 1999. In 1999, she also produced a project to give away a paper bag with the words "I'll nick something" written on it at shops.

Hakone Open Air Museum

Set in the stunning landscape of Hakone, the Hakone Open-Air Museum opened in 1969 as the first open-air art museum in Japan. Constantly changing with the seasons, the spectacular grounds are the permanent home for approximately 120 works by well-known modern and contemporary sculptors. There are also 5 exhibition halls including the Picasso Pavilion, as well as pieces where children can play, a footbath fed by natural hot springs, and a variety of other facilities where visitors can relax and enjoy the splendor of art in nature.
